Cookie Policy
Vernum ("we", "the site") explains on this page which cookies and similar local-storage
technologies we use on the website (vernum.app) and in the dashboard (account.html), and why.
1. What we use today
We run no cookies or tracking/analytics scripts beyond the strictly necessary ones.
The only things we use:
- vernum_cookie_consent (localStorage) and vernum_consent (cookie, ~6 months): to remember
your choice in the banner ("Accept" / "Decline"). It stores only that preference and does
not track you.
- Sign-in state (Firebase Authentication, in the browser's local storage/IndexedDB): to keep
you signed in to the dashboard (account.html). Without it you would have to sign in again
on every page load.
Both fall into the "strictly necessary" category — they cannot be disabled, because the
site's core functions (your session + remembering your preference) depend on them. The
"Decline" option in the banner only covers optional cookies (analytics/advertising) that we
might add in the future.
2. Google Fonts
The typeface used in page headings (Space Grotesk) is loaded from Google's servers. This
means your browser sends a request to Google, which Google handles under its own privacy
policy. Today this is a static resource embedded in the page that needs no separate consent
— it leaves no tracking cookie of ours.
3. What may be added later
If we ever add in-app analytics or marketing cookies, we will run them only after you choose
"Accept" in this banner, and we will update this page beforehand.
4. Your browser settings
You can delete or block cookies in your browser at any time. If you do, you may be signed
out and asked for your cookie preference again on each visit.
